The VII Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest winning entries exhibition opened in Pretoria
The VII Andrei Stenin International Press Photo Contest winning entries exhibition kicked off at the venue of ‘Apogee Boutique Hotel & Spa’ in Pretoria.
Addressing the participants of the opening ceremony Russia’s Ambassador to South Africa H.E.Mr.Ilya Rogachev recalled that the history of the Stenin contest dated back to 2014, when Russian photojournalist Andrei Stenin had been killed while covering civil war in Ukraine. It is in his honour that the contest was launched aimed at helping young photojournalists uncover their professional potential.
In 2021, the contest jury received more than 4,500 entries from 70 countries. Photojournalists from the African continent are among the most active participants and were among the winners in various categories many times.
Submission of entries for the contest’s 2022 edition will start in less than a month, on Dec 22, which is Andrei Stenin’s birthday.
