Launch of the book 'A Russian Angel'
The book ‘A Russian Angel’ has been launched in Pretoria. It was authored by Wessel Oosthuizen, a renowned South African photo journalist, and released in two languages – English and Russian.
The book tells of a blind Russian girl, journalist-to-be Regina Parpieva’s visit to South Africa arranged by the author of the book with the support of the Russian Embassy.
In Russia Regina is known as a presenter on ‘Spas’ TV channel where she hosted a great number of celebrities. In 2018, when she was only 17, she interviewed President Vladimir Putin.
In February 2024, Regina and her mom Gulnara spent two fabulous weeks in South Africa thanks to the efforts of Wessel Oosthuizen and his friends. They enjoyed South African hospitality, familiarized themselves with amazing South African nature and the country’s history including one of its most tragic parts – the 2nd Anglo-Boer War of 1899-1902.
A true journalist, Regina also couldn’t help interviewing Russian Ambassador to South Africa Ilya Rogachev during her stay.
